The Colorado Forum was established in 1978 to create an informed, objective voice on critical public policy issues facing the state. Our 65 members are recognized leaders in the business, education, healthcare, media, legal, real estate, energy and non-profit communities and represent disparate regions in the state of Colorado. David D. Powell, Jr.

Shareholder, Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart PC


Mr. Powell is a shareholder in the national employment law firm of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak, and Stewart, P.C. and a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. His practice focuses primarily on the representation of employers in labor and employment matters. 

Prior to joining Ogletree in January of 2011, he was a partner in the labor and employment sections of two prominent Denver based law firms, Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber & Schreck and Holland & Hart. 

He attended the UCLA School of Law before moving to Denver to work as a law clerk for the Honorable John L. Kane, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.  He then worked as a trial attorney in the Denver District Attorney’s Office before entering private practice. 

He has made significant contributions to the Denver community through his service on various boards and community organizations since he moved to Denver in 1986. 

When he is not practicing law, Dave is an avid golfer and fan of blues and contemporary jazz music.
