James D. (Jamie) Hamilton

Chairman and CEO, Home Loan Insurance and Home Loan State Bank

Jamie Hamilton graduated from Regis High School in Denver, CO, in 1974. He attended Mesa College, a NAIA school, graduating in 1978 with a teaching degree. He played four years on the baseball team, becoming an Academic All American and Honorable Mention All American. After graduating, Jamie signed a free agent baseball contract with Golden West Baseball California Angels and played up to the AA level in El Paso in 1981.

Jamie started his insurance career in 1982, earning designations of AAI, ARM and CPCU. He served as President of the Independent Agents of Western Colorado, on the Board of Directors of the Independent Agents of Colorado and received their Young Agent of the Year award in 1988.

Jamie is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Home Loan & Investment Company, a banking and insurance operation. The corporation is 120 years old with revenues of over $12,000,000 (insurance and banking). Home Loan takes pride in giving back to the community through their longstanding year-end donations and encourages employee involvement with local non-profits.

Jamie is active in many community ventures, including The Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, having served on the Board and as Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was honored as The Chamber’s Citizen of the Year in 1999 and Home Loan was named the Chamber’s 2014 Large Business of the Year.

Jamie was recognized as the State of Colorado Volunteer of the Year in 1995; was inducted into the Mesa State College Hall of Honor in 1997; has served on the Community Hospital Board of Directors, the Governor of Colorado's Commission on Science and Technology, and as a Trustee to the State Colleges in Colorado and to the Mesa State College governing board.

Jamie served as Athletic Director at Mesa State College (now Colorado Mesa University/CMU) from 2006 through 2008 and as Associate AD of Fundraising from 2009 to 2013. In 2010 the newly constructed Hamilton Recreation Center was dedicated in honor of Jamie and Debbie Hamilton. Jamie was also honored with the CMU Distinguished Alumni award in 2012.

Jamie has been Chairman of the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series (aka “JUCO”) since 2003 and served as an active volunteer on the committee since 1986. He was awarded the 2002 Meritorious Service Award by the American Baseball Coaches Association. As a result of the stadium renovation and tower construction spearheaded by Jamie in 2012, the Hamilton Family Tower at Suplizio Field was dedicated in May of 2017.

Jamie has been married to his wife Debbie for 37 years. They both enjoy spending time with family – son Dane and his wife, and daughter Sarah and her husband, along with granddaughter Mikayla, who all live in Denver.
