We are very privileged to live in Colorado and members of the Colorado Forum care deeply about the future of our State.  The Colorado Forum was formed in 1978 with a diverse membership of business and civic leaders who work to achieve good public policy results for Colorado. The Forum has a long history of positive engagement on issues of importance to the State and because the Forum has no term limits, our consistency of purpose allows us to address issues for as long as it takes to make important change happen. More >

James Johnson

President and Chief Executive Officer, GE Johnson Construction Company

On January 1, 1997, Jim assumed the role of President and CEO of GE Johnson Construction Company, a commercial general contractor with annual sales volumes in excess of $300 million headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Before becoming President, Jim served as Vice President with primary responsibilities including business development and the formation of the Special Projects Division.  Jim was born in Wichita, Kansas, however, grew up in Colorado Springs.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science in 1984 from Kansas State University. 

Jim is a current board member of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region Foundation Board; Wells Fargo Bank-Colorado Springs Community Board of Directors; Kansas State University Foundation Board of Trustees; Kansas State University College of Engineering Advisory Council; Kansas State University Alumni Association Board of Trustees; Member Young Presidents Organization and Colorado Concern.

Jim is a past board member of the Downtown Partnership Board of Directors, Associated General Contractors-Colorado, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, El Pomar Community Health, Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce, Goodwill Industries of Colorado Springs, Penrose Hospital Foundation, Workers Compensation Coalition; Citizen’s Goals Board; and a past member of the Greater Colorado Springs Economic Development Corporation; Member, Southeast Denver Douglas County Economic Development Council.  He is also the recipient of the 2008 Chamber Business Citizen of the Year and 2009 Recipient of the Sister Myra James Award for Outstanding Service.   

Jim married his wife Laura in 2000 and they have four adult children. 

Jim and Laura enjoy living in Colorado Springs and spending time in their recently completely home outside of Westcliffe, Colorado and outdoors with the kids, horses, and dogs.
