John M. Fox

Chairman, Fox Family Foundation

John M. Fox is the Executive Chairman of Trona Energy.  Prior to Trona Energy, Mr. Fox served as Chairman of the Board of MAK-J Energy Company, a family oil and gas production company with operations in Texas, Colorado, and Wyoming.  He is also Chairman of the Board of Kona Mountain Coffee, a Hawaii based coffee farm, visitor center, and mail order company.

John Fox founded and served as President / CEO and Chairman of the Board of MarkWest Energy Partners, LP, a New York Stock Exchange listed company serving the oil and gas industry, from its inception in 1987 until his retirement from the Board of Directors in 2010.  

Mr. Fox cofounded and was Chief Operating Officer of Western Gas Resources from 1976 to 1986.  Western Gas Resources was a multistate midstream services company which merged with Anadarko Petroleum in 2006. 

Mr. Fox is the Chairman of the Board for the Fox Family Foundation. He serves as a trustee for the Alliance for Choice in Education and the Denver Inner City Parish.  He also serves as a member of the Development Board for Colorado Uplift.  Mr. Fox is the founding Director and Vice Chairman of United States Air Force Academy Endowment Foundation and supports the Chair for Character and Leadership at the United States Air Force Academy.  In addition Mr. Fox supports numerous other philanthropic activities.

In addition to graduating from the United States Air Force Academy and serving as a Pilot Instructor, Mr. Fox received his MBA from University of Denver and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He has been a permanent resident of Colorado for 41 years.
