Executive Director, The Anschutz Foundation

Dave Ryan serves as Executive Director of The Anschutz Foundation, which supports charitable initiatives in Colorado and beyond across education, health care, human services, veterans’ causes, public policy, arts and culture, and personal and spiritual values. His career spans philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, technology, and venture capital.

Previously, Dave was CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado, where he led an expansion of mentoring programs designed to support high school graduation and postsecondary success. Earlier, he served as Chief Operating Officer of CiviCore, a software company serving nonprofits, foundations, and public agencies, and as Co-Founder and Managing Director of Green Spark Ventures, a venture capital fund investing in early-stage clean technology companies. His earlier career included senior sales and business development roles with technology companies in the United States and Europe.

Dave’s civic leadership includes service as chairman of the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center and The Spot Youth Center, along with board roles at Urban Peak, the Boulder Philharmonic, the Logan School for Creative Learning, and the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business. He was a founding partner of Social Venture Partners Denver and was appointed by the Governor of Colorado to the State Commission for Community Service.

Dave holds a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia, an MBA from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Harvard Business School. He is a Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Livingston Fellow and a graduate of Leadership Denver.

Dave lives in Denver with his wife, Christy. They have two sons, Jack and Will, who share the family’s enthusiasm for athletics and the outdoors.
