Mark L. Smith
Founding Principal, Slifer Smith and Frampton

Mark Smith is a founding principal and Managing Partner of Slifer Smith and Frampton, and was a founding principal of both East West Partners and Union Station Neighborhood Company.

Mark has 50 years experience in real estate development, sales and marketing. A native of Denver, Colorado, Mark holds an undergraduate degree in real estate and a master’s degree in management.

Mark was the founder of the Youth Foundation (now Youth Power 365), Platte Forum, and the Riverfront Park Community Foundation. Current board affiliations include the Clyfford Still Museum, Colorado Forum, First Western Financial, Forbes Global Properties, the Riverfront Park Community Foundation, Slifer Smith and Frampton Foundation, and Chief Executives Organization (CEO). Mark has also served as chairman of the Beaver Creek Metropolitan District, the Bravo Colorado Vail Valley Music Festival, the Central Platte Valley Metropolitan District, the Downtown Denver Youth Foundation, and as a director of numerous organizations including the Denver Convention Center Hotel Authority, Denver Union Station Project Authority, Denver Public Schools Foundation, YPO Rocky Mountain Chapter, Teach for America Colorado, Urban Land Conservancy, Colorado Succeeds, Colorado Trust Bank, Northern Trust Bank of Colorado, Mayor’s Leadership Team on Early Education, Downtown Denver Partnership, Greenway Foundation, South Platte River Commission, University of Colorado Denver Advisory Board, Colorado Uplift, and the Charter Fund.


Mark was named Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Rocky Mountain Region in 2001, received the first-ever Friend of the River award from the Greenway Foundation in 2011, and received the Colorado Business Magazine CEO of the Year award in 2014. He has also been acknowledged for his leadership and vision in master planning and development of both Riverfront Park and Union Station in Denver. Both communities were recipients of the Urban Land Institute Global Award for Excellence.

Mark resides in downtown Denver, Colorado.
