Monica Liley Skok, a seasoned executive with over 25 years in financial services and family office businesses, is Managing Director for BDT & Company, a merchant bank that provides advice and long-term capital through its affiliated funds to help family- and founder-led businesses pursue their strategic and financial objectives.   

Previously, Monica was Region Manager for JPMorgan Chase in the Mountain West Region (Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana), where she and her team delivered the firm’s global capabilities to business clints including credit and financing, treasury and payment services, international banking and investment banking.  Recognized for her expertise in executive leadership, governance, mergers and acquisitions, capital formation, and optimizing people and teams, Monica was recruited in 2014 as CEO to launch, build and lead a single-family office for an ultra-high net worth family.  Monica built the firm from the ground up, and led a team dedicated to executing financial and operational goals through comprehensive investment and asset preservation strategies, financial management, strategic philanthropy and legacy planning.  Prior to this operational experience, Monica was an investment banker with Green Manning & Bunch and then a Partner with St. Charles Capital focused on mergers and acquisitions and private capital formation for middle-market companies.  Monica also co-founded Rootstock Solutions, a pioneer in impact investing, where she advised private equity and venture capital investors, social enterprises, non-profits, foundations and universities in their pursuit of social impact and investments with double or triple-bottom line returns.  From 1997-1999, Monica was an Analyst with J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. in New York City.  Monica’s career began in 1995 when she joined the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C. 

Monica has put her strategic finance background to work providing board leadership to many nonprofit and philanthropic organizations including: the Colorado Forum (Member), the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce (Member), the Downtown Denver Partnership (Member), CiviCO (Advisory Board), the International Women’s Forum (Member), the Colorado Education Initiative (Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer), the Telluride Venture Accelerator (Mentor), the Colorado Health Foundation (Philanthropy, Investment and Finance Committees), the Children’s Museum of Denver (Treasurer), Face It Together (Advisory Board), the Women’s Foundation of Colorado (Finance Committee), the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver (Advisory Board), and the Level One Society of the Denver Health Foundation (Co-Founder).  Monica recognized as a 2022 Woman of Distinction by the Girls Scouts of Colorado, was selected to participate in the 2006 Leadership Denver program of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, and was recognized as one of Denver’s “Forty Under 40” by the Denver Business Journal.  She received a BA from University of Colorado – Boulder, CO and studied Mandarin Chinese at Yunnan University – Kunming, Yunnan Province, China (PRC). 

Monica is a 5th generation Colorado native, with coal mining, agricultural and entrepreneurial roots.  She is a proud cancer survivor and resides in Denver, Colorado with her family.
